Reception: March 4, 6:30-8:30PM

Exhibition: February 5-March 31, 2010

AnastasiaPhoto is located at 166 Orchard Street, New York, New York.

From the press release:

“AnastasiaPhoto is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by photographer David Wright: A photographic collaboration with the NGO, A River Blue.

These luminous works were made over two months in northern Uganda where A River Blue is located. The photos depict a school that is funded by the charitable organization A River Blue in a formerly internally displaced persons camp, as well as images of the citizens and landscapes of the surrounding village of Alebtong. This series of photographs was recently selected as 1 of 3 winners in the 2009 Conscientious Portfolio Competition.”

Additionally:

A beautiful A River Blue catalogue designed by Josh Gomby and printed by Booksmart Studio in an edition of 250 will be released at the opening reception. It will be available for purchase through donation (any amount — your choice) and 100% of the proceeds go to A River Blue. Support A River Blue and take home a memorable piece of the exhibition. The picture below is of the booklet cover.

The opening reception and exhibition are open to the public. We encourage you to bring friends, family, and colleagues, and learn about A River Blue, northern Uganda, and AnastasiaPhoto.

Timothy Briner: Boonville

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Ethan Jones and I visited Tim Briner in the spring of 2008 while traveling across North American to speak with selected photographers about their work for Pause, to Begin.

Tim had literally just finished making photographs for his series, Boonville, and we spent a night camping in Point Reyes National Park interviewing him about the work, talking about photography, eating hamburgers and hot dogs, and drinking beers.

Boonville is currently on display at Daniel Cooney Fine Art and while in New York I had the pleasure of seeing the exhibition with Tim. The images and prints are remarkable, and seem particularly appropriate right now given the ebb and flow of America. Visit Daniel Cooney Fine Art for more information. The exhibition is a must-see if you’re in New York.

Big news: Anastasia Photo

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I’m proud to announce my first solo exhibition with Anastasia Photo in New York February 5 – March 31, 2009. I will be exhibiting both my Alebtong, Uganda and Murchison Falls works. We’re in the editing process right now and so far the selection looks quite beautiful. More specifics will be announced soon.

Anastasia Photo is a remarkable gallery not only because Felicia, the curator, and Ryan, her assistant curator, are wonderful but also because each exhibition is coupled with a related philanthropic organization. It’s fitting to have the exhibition aligned with A River Blue as many of the works being exhibited were made during my time working with ARB.
